Tailor-made stainless steel penstock and flaps for flood protection
DN 1400 flap valve with counterweight and XL4 semicircular penstock with customised shaped invert have already been installed for construction section VII/VIII 2022-2025. Thanks to the shape of the base, which corresponds 1:1 to the shape of the channel, and the base seal on the plate, the penstock seals the channel perfectly. The penstock can be moved into the maintenance position for maintenance work. The modular actuation system with special emergency actuation via our MOBITORQ mobile actuatorrounds off the durable and safe functionality of the penstocks.
The subsequent stages are already in the planning phase. BÜSCH will be equipping the other construction phases with stainless steel penstocks up to and including 2028. Because future integrated water management needs reliable solutions.

Nuremberg Institute of Technology - Georg Simon Ohm - is expanding its campus with a new technology centre - the Ohm Innovation Centre (OIC), which will serve the growing research activities and the interdisciplinary processing of future-oriented topics. This centre includes flexible research areas, rooms for the ‘Autonomous Systems and Intelligent Mobility’ research group and a 50-metre-long hydraulic engineering laboratory, which will be used in future by the Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management research professorship at the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management. In this laboratory, the scientific staff will be able to carry out model tests for hydraulic engineering in coastal and inland areas on an appropriate model scale. The laboratory will continue to play an important role in teaching and in the visualisation of hydraulic engineering issues for the public.

Our customer in Hamburg replaced an elementary weir type penstock in a sewer. The new XL4 weir type penstock 900 × 900 mm for a water column of 7.6 m regulates the inflows and outflows in the sewer and thus ensures wastewater disposal for the majority of the inhabitants of the Hamburg Elbe island of Wilhelmsburg.
